Fourth Annual Interdisciplinary Graduate Student Conference for Research on Children at Risk:
Risks and Resilience in Childhood and Adolescence
The fourth annual Interdisciplinary Graduate Student Conference for Research on Children at Risk will be held at the University of Kentucky in Lexington on April 17th and 18th, 2014. The theme for the conference is risks and resilience during childhood and adolescence. We hope to have research from diverse perspectives (e.g. biological, educational, psychological, or sociological, etc.) on conditions related to the risk and resilience of youth. This conference is broad in scope, addressing a range of risk and protective factors that shape youth’s current or future outcomes. Ideally, this interdisciplinary conference will offer research that is comprehensible and interesting to a wide scientific audience. The keynote speaker will be Professor Jody Miller, from Rutgers, an international expert on how inequalities of gender, race, and class shape young women’s participation in crime and risks for victimization.
Poster submission from graduate students at any stage of training and from all disciplines will be accepted beginning in February.
***Authors of posters selected for presentation will receive a $50 honorarium. The posters will be eligible for first ($300), second ($200), and third ($100) place prizes.***
Send abstract (250 words), along with name and contact information, to Dr. Christia Spears Brown (christia.brown@nulluky.edu) by March 14, 2014. Posters will be printed by the Psychology department.
